The Otherworlds project began in July 2010. It explored the world of the soldier through the visual arts. The project encompassed many related threads; arts and skills workshops; professional mentoring and exhibition opportunities for the active service personnel; a series of unique exhibitions by guest artists exploring the theme of conflict; and a garrisons’ schools project ‘When You Go Away’. Otherworlds has provided servicemen and women and their families with the chance to use the visual arts to tell their story – providing a permanent legacy for others to see; and presenting the public with a window on the world of members of our Armed Forces and a greater understanding of the experiences shared by them.
